Biography
Born and raised in Australia, in 2009 Jozsef James made the pilgrimage to Venice Beach, CA to take in the rich rock n roll history and gain experience recording in the US music landscape. After previously fronting a rock band and touring Australia for five years and taking on small tours in the US it was time for the band to come to an end and Jozsef to begin working on solo material.
Using Venice Beach as a key inspiration for his debut release titled 'Keys To The City', Jozsef draws in influences from all over to create a tasty mix of soul, pop and crunchy funk. The lead single off the EP is 'Beautiful’, an upbeat danceable track drawing influences from INXS, Prince and Jamiroquai to create a funky, sultry song filled with saxophone riffs, soulful vocals and a groove filled bass line.
Having built his own recording studio, this EP was written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by Jozsef.
As Jim Morrison once famously quoted “I can kind of envision maybe one person with a lot of machines, tapes, and electronics set up, singing or speaking and using machines”, this is so for Jozsef James, however this is not purely someone using samples or cutting and pasting wav files. This is a seasoned, talented and knowledgeable musician that as Jim Morrison quoted, creating his own organic music with the use of technology. A DIY musician doing it all himself.
