This is the only cover on the album, written by an incredible but little-known artist named Buddy Tabor, who was a prolific songwriter and a pillar of the Juneau Arts community. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, as he passed away about five years before I moved to town, but his legacy still reverberates through so many Juneau institutions. Death and loss are a definite theme of this album, and New Fallen Snow is one of the most poignant tunes about death I’ve ever heard.
