Bitter is an attempt to grapple with my aversion to being online. Particularly after the 2016 election I found the internet was less about staying connected and building community and more about forming coalitions and passing judgment. I’m sure my friends are sick of hearing me preach about the evils of social media and its effect on mental health (though of course I’m a hypocrite and say that having recently revived my accounts to begin promoting my music). In general, with Bitter I wanted to remind myself that we can all get trapped expressing opinions we didn’t form on our own, but that become true because we hear them enough.
