The musical poet Joey Russell will be celebrating childhood memories of his upbringing in the mountains of southwest Virginia. Born in Radford, Virginia, our simple life was not much different than most families around America during that era. This catalogue song collection expresses those fond memories. Joey's music makes the connection, shared memories of rural life, humble beginnings, family, faith and the dream of reaching success to make our family's proud. Joey and his wife, Kathy make their home in Las Vegas, Nevada and Virginia as they tour bringing fun and laughter making friends along the way………
Joey shares his musical gift as a singer-songwriter with deep passion. Blending the old with the new, country, soulful, traditional country gospel songs of the past we cherish with fond memories. Joey’s career began as a young singer songwriter, Joey Russell enjoyed the life of music as a signed singer/songwriter with one of the largest music publishing companies in the world, Bill Lowery Talent, Atlanta, Georgia. Standing along side of some of the greats, Billy Joe Royal, Dennis Yost and Classics, Joe South, Atlanta Rhythm Section, songs you remember, Spooky, Down in the boondocks, Walk A Mile In my shoes, the list goes on. Joey continues to share his heart, life and passion for life through his music. Joey continues to record, to date, as he has recorded 14 albums (CD’s) released 25 radio singles, what is important to note is this, all as an Independent Recording Artist which Joey shares to encourage young writers and artist of all ages. Along with his wife Kathy of 42 years, they have traveled America and Internationally to share his music.
From his current studio album, “Oklahoma Moon”, each new song tells the story of his family, country, faith, and life experiences that relate to the audience of all ages. “Always Say Grace” top the charts at # 10 in January, 2015 shares the story of a fathers advice to his son. Joey’s follow up single “Rescue Me” a story line we can all relate to in troubled times, reaching the national top 40 radio charts. Growing up in a family surrounded by preachers, “Man Of The Cloth” shares the circuit rider preacher experiences. Music, family and fun, Joey’s music tells the stories of his life, the Americana life of family, Country, and faith. Joey is currently in the studio celebrating more than 50 years of music with a tribute to his brother, Mickey Russell, celebrating their first garage band album recorded, "The Fugitives", On The Run which is available at the www.oldies.com music page.
