Roots
Down in the south where I was raised
My family went to church and they gave God praise.
I was raised underneath the pews, and I never will forget the words the preacher used.

When I grew up I raised some cane, and I never thought the Lord would take me back again.
Until I heard his still small voice, I knew that it was time for me to make a choice.

He's in my Roots just like a tree, I cant believe that he would ever save me
so many times I turned him away
I cant believe that he can hear me pray.

For the next few years I ran so hard
I even felt his presence down at the bar
Then one day I couldn't take it no more
So I hit my knees down on the floor.

I cried out God forgive me pleas
And I got my answer there on my Knees
He changed my life in every way
and I know the Holy Spirit is here to stay

He's in my roots just like a tree
and praise the Lord that he just saved me
I don't have to fear my death no more
I'll spend my days forever with the Lord.

I gave my heart that day to the Lord and I'm never gona let the devil steal my sole.
