Candy and Hank
Candy lit a cigarette and she took a long hard draw
Her eyes marked where the crows had been
Her lips sang the lines of an old love song
Through the smoke, she caught her reflection
in a mirror across the room
He said baby, you're still just as pretty as the day I first laid eyes on you.

Hank poured a shot of whiskey in a glass that sat upon the bar
His face a bit weathered from life, a few wrinkles and a couple of old battle scars
Looking down he saw his reflection in the liquid amber space
And she said honey you're still just as handsome as the very first time I saw your face

And the years go by
But true love doesn't die
When 2 hearts beat in rhythm with the clock
Oh, what a beautiful ride

Candy said, Hank do you remember the very first thing I said to you
Cowboy, with a name like that, I reckon you'll be singing the lovesick blues
And Hank said, baby, you know I ain't never gonna sing that sad old tune
But I'll sing I can't help it if I'm still in love with you

And the years go by
But true love doesn't die
When 2 hearts beat in rhythm with the clock
Oh, what a beautiful ride

Candy lit another cigarette and Hank poured one last shot
He said baby, you really oughta quit those things
Cause Woman you know you're all I've got
Cause I'd give up the drinking there's just one thing I won't do
I'll go to my grave before I'll ever quit loving you.

And the years go by
But true love doesn't die
When 2 hearts beat in rhythm with the clock
Oh, what a beautiful ride
