Tinted Windows is an attempt to convey the disconnect between artist and audience, outsider and insider, unsuccessful and successful. Haves and have-nots inhabit our world in estranged proximity. The distance can be enormous between their lives, or as thin as a sheet of tinted glass.

Seems like all my life
I've been outside looking in
All those loving families
All those loyal friends
But something deep inside me
Raged away despite the cost
I burned all those bridges
Most before I'd even crossed

And oh, it seemed so easy
Oh, it looked so fine
Gazing in through tinted windows
At a life that could not be mine

Those who have betrayed me
Those who could not stay
Those who found a better deal
Those I pushed away
I did not mean to deceive you
Had no intention to be cruel
I'm just driven by my demons
Sometimes I act the fool

And oh, it seemed so easy
Oh, it looked so fine
Gazing in through tinted windows
At a life that could not be mine

They say hope springs eternal
Sure hope those springs don't run dry
While I still have strength to travel
A bit of fire in my eye
Until then you can find me
Right where I've been all along
Trapped between these strings
And the words to my next song

And oh, it seemed so easy
Oh, it looked so fine
Gazing in through tinted windows
At a life that could not be mine

Seems like all my life
I've been outside looking in
All those loving families
All those loyal friends
