It started with a feeling I didn’t recognize.
It happened ‘bout the time I looked into her eyes
Sort of like a jackpot or winning some big prize.
A little bit like lightning from above
I guess you’d say it’s something like…

I knew it was the real thing. I never saw it coming.
I hardly recognize the man that I’m becoming.
Living life without her would be positively numbing.
I guess… when push comes to shove
You’d have to say it’s something like…

Love makes you buy flowers for the first time in your life.
Get tickets to a ballgame and gladly take your wife.
A thousand little changes… difficult to see
I think of what love changes, and I’m happy that it’s me.

This feeling is like glue… It holds us both together
So even if there’s trouble, it makes us both feel better.
Every day’s a gamble … I can’t believe I met her.
This life sure fits me like a glove.
It seems to me that’s something like…
Something like love.

The thing about love, it keeps you on the level
Everything is neater where it used to be disheveled
Keeps you from doing something you know you shouldn’t do.
It fills the world with sunshine… and I’m the living proof.

I’m not here to tell you that it goes without a hitch.
There’s that seven-year and 14-year and 21-year itch.
But I know me and the old one, and I know which one is which.
I guess… when push comes to shove
