Lucky Day
Lucky Day Jim Gaudet
Well it might have been a week it might have been three
I was minding my own business in a local eatery
When the waitress came by said hon you’re lookin’ a little lonely
I’ve a message that’s meant for your eyes only
It read I’m no fortune teller and I got no crystal ball
I can hardly even read the specials on the wall
You probably think I’m crazy but take heed in what I say
One look in your eyes tells me it’s your, lucky day
Your lucky day, your lucky day, your lucky day
Well sometimes it takes a minute sometimes it takes some more
To realize when a good thing is knockin’ on your door
Luck runs in streaks it can run you into trouble
When it all heads south it will burst you like a bubble
Yea luck for me has been hard to find
Cuz what seems to be in reach it escapes me everytime
I got a lot of history with this thing called Murphy’s Law
I strive for perfection but I always find a flaw
Well it’s the luck of the Irish, the luck of the draw
Beginner’s luck when old lady luck calls
It might be a rabbit’s foot or some lucky charm
So I went out to the racetrack to watch the ponies run
Try out my new found luck and maybe have a little fun
I took out every penny they would give me from the bank
And I put it on a longshot and it won by 20 lengths
Now lucky days they come and lucky days they go
I’m rolling on a hot streak of many in a row
I no longer play the lottery don’t need to roll the dice
Because that waitress gave me such good advice
Well it’s the luck of the Irish, the luck of the draw
Beginner’s luck when old lady luck calls
Maybe a rabbit’s foot or some lucky charm
Now I’m a firm believer my luck is here to stay
So I went back to the diner tell the waitress of my fate
When I walked in the door she flashed a big ole smile
I asked if maybe sit and talk awhile
