The First Time I Met The Blues
The first time I met the blues I was 17
I was blinded by a figure like I’d never seen
I let her lead me round like a dog on a leash
I found out how sweet freedom was when I was released
The first time I met the blues- it turned my head around
The second time I met the blues I was 22
I got let go from my job & did not know what to do
Two thousand miles from home and I couldn’t pay rent
I was livin off my wits because my cash was all spent
The second time I met the blues – it turned my head around
The next time I met the blues I was 28
The woman I gave my love to paid me back with hate
She left me after 7 years for another man
I felt so sad and lonesome I did not understand
The next time I met the blues – it turned my head around
As I got older my situations changed
My house got foreclosed – my parents passed away
I’ve had to sell my guitars to support a family
You see the blues have never left me
The last time I met the blues was a few days ago
Blues said I see your mind is racin’ but your body’s movin slow
I said Blues we’ve known each other since I was just a teen
And we will be together til I leave this scene
The last time I met the blues – we just both sat dow
