The Wolf (House of a Thousand Leaves)
Could have known which way to go
Something ate up my breadcrumbs
Then I sat there in the cold
Spinning compass of my soul

Could have found my own way home
Felt it deep down in my bones
Yet I sat there all alone
Spinning compass
Even god above won’t save me
from the wolf

Could have looked to left or right
Close of day, falling night
When I knew, when I saw
When I cried, when I called

Said if I don’t laugh now
like I laughed then
My whole life would just cave in

Stand me up, let me go
Fold my hands, step away
Turn my face to the clouds
Taste of earth in my mouth

Wash your hands, bow your head
Nothing done, nothing said
