"Fire on the Prairie" is the latest single from up-and-coming bluegrass artist, Jake Leg. Reminiscent of the more rock-fueled approach to bluegrass that fans of Billy Strings will find familiar, "Fire on the Prairie"
is bluegrass with a dark twist, with apocalyptic imagery and an ominous atmosphere.

Lyrics:

Keep a latern burning in the window of our home
For the wretched souls forsake, forever cursed to roam
And for the angels should the lord be kind enough to send
There can be no new beginning without first a bitter end

My father used to tell me, before I went to sleep
Of a seven-headed beast, that will rise up from the deep
And the oceans will boil and the sun will turn to black
And for those who are not righteous, God will surely turn his back

I see fire on the prairie
There is poison in the well
If heaven won't have me, I know a place that will

I remember as a child, heavy summer rains
A low rumble coming, from far across the plains
Lightning crashed above us and I hear my father pray
For a flood to sweep the valley, and wash our sins away

The Pale Rider's coming, I know it to be true
The damned will be the many and the saved will be the few
When fire rains upon us, from heavens up above
Some will call it wrath, while others call it love

I see fire on the prairie
There is poison in the well
If heaven won't have me, I know a place that will

Keep a latern burning in the window of our home
For the wretched souls forsake, forever cursed to roam
And for the angels should the lord be kind enough to send
There can be no new beginning without first a bitter end

I see fire on the prairie
There is poison in the well
If heaven won't have me, I know a place that will

I see fire on the prairie
There is poison in the well
If heaven won't have me, I know a place that will
