Biography
Christopher Wood Holmes (a.k.a. ‘Holmeswood’, Christopher’s musical alter ego) is an American pop-rock singer/songwriter, actor, director and producer of film and music videos. His first film appearance was in director Frank Oz’s 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives, starring Nicole Kidman, Glen Close, Bette Midler and Christopher Walken. Next, he appeared in two episodes of Whoopi Goldberg’s sitcom Whoopi, followed by the lead role as a zombie slayer in Film Royale’s The Long Road To Gary, which premiered at the Village East Cinema in NYC as an Official Selection in the 2005 New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. After a bit part in Revolutionary Road, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in 2009, he portrayed Corporate Agent Geryon alongside veteran actor and producer Lloyd Kaufman in his second Film Royale project Polypore, released in 2013.
And now, after much anticipation, on August 12, 2014 Holmeswood will be issuing his first single as a singer/songwriter. “Back to the Beach” is an exuberant debut recording, a festive electronic dance single that’s a vibrant celebration. While lyrically underlining the human value and necessity of nostalgia and escape, this fun-loving track musically embraces the therapeutic and rejuvenating value of dance with vitality and appreciation while sonically fusing a retro-Beach Boys lightness with a contemporary electronic dance intensity and production savvy. In short, it’s a beach party blast for the new millennium! “Back to the Beach” will be followed by the release of Holmeswood, his self-titled 12 song electro-pop/rock studio album which Holmeswood has recently completed co-writing and recording vocals on and will be released through his management team at Redwood Entertainment in the fall of 2014.
After being raised in rural Simsbury, Connecticut, Christopher followed his long untapped dream of breaking into show-business in a serious fashion when he eventually made the break and moved to New York City with stunningly immediate results—he was being cast in major motion pictures within the first year. This of course didn’t come without much hard work and years of preparation on his part. Prior to moving to the city, he performed in several community theatre shows in Connecticut and then progressed to working professional shows on Camelot and Carnival Cruise lines—all the while commuting from Connecticut after work at his corporate day-job to New York City for night-time acting classes.
In 2008, he made his live stage debut as a vocal performer as “Holmeswood” at the New York International Guitar Festival’s “Bob Dylan Song Contest.” When Holmeswood took the stage at the legendary Bitter End on Bleecker Street in NYC he brought the house down performing a pop version of Dylan’s "Like A Rolling Stone." From there he was selected as one of the finalists to perform at the Arts World Financial Center–Winter Garden. In 2009 Christopher created Holmeswood Features Entertainment, a music video production company in which he continues to serve as owner, director, editor, and producer.
Be sure and keep an eye out for Holmeswood’s single “Back to the Beach” and his soon to be released follow-up full length Holmeswood CD later in the fall.
