In the Evening When the Sun Goes Down
An all-time favorite in the repertoire of folk blues songs. The original was recorded by the great LeRoy Carr on piano, but you can hear dozens of other versions, from Ray Charles to Nina Simone. This one is a composite of Big Bill Broonzy's, Brownie McGhee’s, and my own. It was recorded as an afterthought in the studio, with Byron and me improvising it on the spot. Listen to this one with the lights turned low and, perhaps, a nice glass of something mellow to drink.
