“Well the devil lived across the county line”
I heard the preacher say at least a thousand times
He’s just waiting down the road
To snatch you up and steal your soul
So I made sure I was washed in the blood
Before I ever left that Mississippi mud
Even though I’m 500 miles away,
I still hear the preacher say

Kneel and pray
Read the good book everyday
