As surely as the sculptor chisels raw marble into fine art, Guitar Jack Wargo was indelibly shaped by the blues of Clapton, Hendrix, and B.B. King, as well as seminal rhythm stylists like Steve Cropper and Al McKay. Guitar Jack started off listening to the English blues guitarists, later learning about Freddie and Albert King, Albert Collins, etc. When Jack first came to LA from his hometown of Scranton, PA, he discovered the real blues scene, and got a gig on the weekends at the Rubiyat Club on 14th and Western. There he met Linda Hopkins, and years later began playing local gigs with her. Jack's first trip to Europe was with Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Soon after, he joined Hank Ballard and the Midnighters for several bus tours across the United States. From 1990 to 2006, Guitar Jack had the honor of playing with Billy Preston, the 5th Beatle. In 2006 Jack started touring with Solomon Burke, playing the major festivals; Montreux, Glastonbury, Stuttgart, Umbria, and at the Hollywood Bowl. In between tours, Guitar Jack was writing and playing his own music with his blues band. In fact, Guitar Jack and No Slack were the house band at BB King's Blues Club at Universal CityWalk in Hollywood.
Guitar Jack Wargo has recently released his fourth blues album, ‘Til The Money's Gone, and it’s moving up the Contemporary Blues Charts!
