Crooked Child
Some stand straight and some they stand so tall
some lean left and some don’t lean at all
I know I am crooked I am bent
But don’t doubt it for a moment, don’t you doubt that what’s inside is heaven sent.
I been leanin’ ever leanin’ on this tiny little mortal thread
Hopin and a’prayin that our love will grow a garden like you said
And I know you by the way you hold my hand
I know you by your footsteps in the sand
And I’m a Crooked Child I’m runnin wild
And baby I know I can be so blue
But darlin you can lean on me
and I’ll lean back to you
Well, I’m always runnin later ever later, even later than I said
It’s taken time to clear the pathways, rivers runnin wild through my head
I remember vividly stumbling down the road in to your heart
And though it’s natural to be gone this time away is like a work of art
And I’m a Crooked Child I’m runnin wild
and baby I know I can see things through
But darlin’ you can lean on me
and I’ll lean back to you
