Funk Up The Folk
Freebo, though often serious and self-reflective, also has a very humorous side, which is shown in “Funk Up The Folk”, co-written and co-sung with Eric Schwartz. The song, a tongue-in-cheek lament alluding to the often strict interpretation of Folk Music as defined by the purists, spoofs that sound and tradition in its opening, soon launching into a full blown funk song, complete with Tower Of Power Horns, yet with clever and historical lyrical references to folk music’s evolution and possibilities.
