Cool Cats Hot Bluegrass
Cool Cats Hot Bluegrass

On a Friday evening when I got off work
I headed for the supermarket in my truck
Long neck bottles packed on ice
The bluegrass boys are coming over tonight
(Look at them cool cats, playing hot bluegrass)

Big Joe rosined up his bow,
Got brand new strings on my old dobro
Bill on the banjo, Jake mandolin
On the doghouse bass is big brother Ben.

There was a big full moon in my back yard
Ol blue was a lying there standing guard
We opened up a bottle of scuppernong wine
The bluegrass boys were feeling mighty fine.

All of a sudden came a big bright light
We all looked up and oh what a sight
A flying saucer silver and round
It landed softly and easy on the ground

Then a door slid up and two stepped out
They put their hands together and they did a bow
Said we come in peace we heard a cool noise
We dig that sound from the bluegrass boys
(Look at them cool cats playing hot bluegrass)

We hope you don’t mind if we stay a while
They held a little phone and begin to dial
They told somebody ‘bout a joyful noise
We dig that sound from the bluegrass boys.
