"Borderlines" was written to describe one of the most dangerous periods in American history - before the United States was even a legitimate country. The back-country region that is now the borderlines of Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee was a hostile place to live in the late 1700s. The Native Americans and white settlers lived with the threat of war every day.
