Biography
The singer-songwriter Etan Huijs (Venray, The Netherlands) has been making music for quite a while.
He already made his debut in 2007 with the E.P. 'Travelling Between Places'.
It was a first step. Many small steps would follow until 'The Secret Us' and accompanying lead single 'Little Bird' marked a turning point in 2018. After many years of struggling in the margins, Huijs finally started to be picked up on a broader scale.
Invitations from national radio followed. A band also started to form around the singer.
An extremely productive and qualitative period followed. After 'The Secret Us', long player 'The Monochrome Veil' and E.P. 'Dreams In Multicolor' also received unanimous praise from the press and public, although the period 2020-2022 proved to be very difficult to make career progress.
Etan sings about personal stories and social observations.
His music has been difficult to categorize for years, but in recent years the term Americana has sufficed. This is because of the often narrative lyrics and rootsy musical approach.
2024 is the year of 'The Road And The Wilderness'; the fifth long player by the Venray native.
Huijs can be heard in all his facets on the record; from an eight-minute Wild West tragedy to blues rock about A.I. and from light seventies pop to bluegrass and even jazz.
The record was produced by Etan's regular producer BJ Baartmans.
The tour surrounding the new album covers various provinces in the Netherlands and abroad; Belgium and Germany are also visited.
