JazzTimes re: Duane Vincent
“There will always room for vocalists offering sexy love songs, and the world can certainly use someone like Duane Vincent right about now. Combining the vocal prowess of Al Jarreau, the sophistication of Burt Bacharach and the soulfulness of Kenny Lattimore, Vincent grooves along in smooth, contemporary ways with tight production values and warmth to spare. Vincent’s songwriting talents are display in six original songs and with Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Wave”. It’s as different from Frank Sinatra’s original bossa-nova version as could be; it’s a soulful, this-is-mine take on a classic that will stand the test of time, a cover song in the best sense of the term. Vincent’s originals are songs of longing, love, comfort, and the joy of two people who’ve found the right partner. He sings of eternal truths, but in a new way. ”
