Biography

Drew Fitts aka "Dru Fittz " was born August 10, 1988, in Memphis, Tennessee. He grew up in Orange Mound then moved to East Memphis where he graduated from White Station High. Growing up as an athlete, he always had the dedication and determination to learn and grow in everything he was interested in.  Music worked its way into his life early. His parents introduced him to rock, other genres early. He was mainly interested in hip hop music. Drew began to look for ways to combine various styles of music to create a new independent sound. Drew’s music was influenced early on by artists such as; Tupac, Dr.Dre, Snoop Dog, and NWA. As time progressed his primary influences were; Eminem, Linkin Park, Jay Z, Ludacris, and T.I. There were also influences from different genres consisting of rock, pop, alternative, and crossover styles. Dru found that music would give him and avenue to escape the pressures of the real world to a world of his own through music. He found that music also gave him an outlet for self expression through words and rhythm. He began using his music playfully to communicate with friends and family and around the age of 16 he knew this was something he wanted to do seriously. He grew to learn ways to record, produce, engineer, and every other aspects of the creative music project. In 2010 Dru and a childhood friend linked up and started a group called RawkBoyz. They were fairly successful as a duo they landed a distribution deal and began to make waves in the music community. After a mutual decision the two decided that the best thing for them would be to go their separate ways and Dru linked up with SkyLyfe Music, an entertainment company in Memphis, Tn. Dru is currently working on his first album with SkyLyfe and is featured on various artists’ albums within the company. Dru feels that this move was the best thing for him at the time. However, for artistic reasons, Dru and SkyLyfe parted ways and continues to keep in touch. When asked about his future plans for his music career, Dru responded: “With my eyes wide open and a head full of ideas, I only think of the sky’s the limit and the road to get there. To this day I still remember everything I have learned and take what I can to grow and progress in a passion I have desired for a life time.” -Drew Fitts
