Dance House
DANCE HOUSE
written by Doug Moreland, ASCAP (composer/author and publisher)
My dancin’ ain’t fancy
But my heart's where it needs to be
Big enough for a woman to love, not out on my sleeve
You can’t hold on to the long gone
The fiddler’s sawin’ on a hillbilly tune
C’mon we gotta get there soon
To the Dance House
Momma let's go to town
More fun than the law allows
We’ll all meet at the dance house
Take the tables and the chairs
Put ‘em all out on the porch
Tie the chandelier up to the ceiling
Pull the rugs off the hardwood floors
Swing down till the sun comes up
The gut-rot the fiddler brought
Is worth sneakin’ a shot
At the Dance House
Momma let's go to town
More fun than the law allows
We’ll all meet at the dance house
You got your German roots
A skirt and cowboy boots
Don’t tell you Daddy where you’ll be
The sheriff don’t approve of me
He’s as fun as an ol’ stubborn mule
Everyone knows to speak easy
If we wanna keep breakin’ the rules
At the Dance House
Momma let's go to town
More fun than the law allows
We’ll all meet at the dance house
