Skeleton
SKELETON
written by Doug Moreland, ASCAP (composer/author and publisher)

I’m a skeleton in her closet
Innocence we lost it
I’m a memory she won’t admit to having known
She was my angel now I’m a ghost

Been a long time since I’ve been to our hometown
An unplanned encounter on familiar ground
Could she not see I was so apologetic
A cold stare through me with no acknowledgment
I lowered my head and I turned
And in the corner of my eye I swear that I heard
A teardrop fall as I took another step
Through the door to my place in her closet

I’m a skeleton in her closet
Innocence we lost it
I’m a memory she won’t admit to having known
She was my angel now I’m a ghost

She doesn’t see me anymore
In her mind was I really there for sure
It’s torture to be something she hides
A dark corner of her mind is where I reside
To this day I know not what I have done
It takes two to believe the other's the one
I should move on and find somebody else
But I’ll always feel I’ve been left on a shelf
