Marfa Lights
MARFA LIGHTS
written by Doug Moreland, ASCAP (composer/author and publisher)

I’ve got a horse his name is Traveler
If you ask me, his name suits him well
An honest man, ain’t always a gambler
But a gambling man finds the truth hard to tell

I put my faith in my family and friends
Don’t look me in the eye and tell me a lie
It’s like a hole through the heart when robbed by kin
He’ll get his - and Ol’ Traveler’s got stride

And I’ll ride… ride… ride…
Ride for Saturday night
Whoa... I’ll shoot out the Marfa lights

Boats, trucks, trains, and planes
Been off to see them all since I was a child
I don’t live like there’s someone to blame
Raised simple, imagination grown wild

Always intrigued by the unexplained
If you’re not superstitious you may not care
On a moonless night after a hard rain
Lights dance on the skyline and there’s mystery in the air

And I’ll ride… ride… ride…
Ride for Saturday night
Whoa... I’ll shoot out the Marfa lights

My truck is old but travels fine down the road
With a guitar, fiddle and a band that can play
A wheel in my hand diesel on my clothes
If I had a nickel for every mile I’d be a rich man today

This business has been known to steal your soul
If it isn’t done right it just might
I live to roam though I know my home
I got the lights in my sights come Saturday night

And I’ll ride… ride… ride…
Ride for Saturday night
Whoa... I’ll shoot out the Marfa lights
