I got to see Flatt and Scruggs in Augusta, GA when I was 3. I loved the recordings of the classic Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys Band featuring Bill, Lester, Earl, Chubby, and Howard (Cedric), when I was about 5 years old. I was instantly hooked on the sound and have been trying to play this music since.
