Canterbury Tales

Artist’s note:
Geoffrey Chaucer (1343?-1400), toward the end of his life, turned against his life’s work, including “The Canterbury Tales.” He begged Christ to forgive him for writing “worldly vanities . . . so that I may be one of those at the day of doom that shall be saved.”
