MOURNING BLUES
Too many souls who turned us on,
Have left us now, their voices gone.
They played and sang with all their might,
To brighten our lives.
And now that some time has passed,
Still, you know, their music lasts.
‘Cause they made us smile and cry,
We never need ask why.
They made our lives such fun,
A pity the good die young.
There’s nothing left for us to do
But to play these mourning blues.
Oh what a boring life it would have been,
Without Jimi or John, Janis or Jim.
And what kind of songs would we have sung?
What would we have done?
Would we have carried on,
To do our best when hope was gone?
Would we still pay our dues;
Or fail to play the mourning blues?
And do you still remember the day,
How the music changed our lives in so many ways?
All those melodies that touched our hearts,
Held us firm, right from the start.
They made our lives such fun,
A pity the good die young.
There’s nothing left for us to do
But to play these mourning blues.
