The Old Stick

Here is a little bit about the idea behind the song.

The Old Stick, I go to mom's to mow her yard every week. When I get there, she comes outside to protect me or just be with me while I'm working. I noticed one day that she was carrying an old pine stick that was old and gray. While she was bent from old age and had a difficult time hearing anyway, I just wondered why she would carry such on old stick that could not support her if she needed. She is always telling me about Christ and how he died for us. After watching her begin to slow and having more health issues, I thought there was a song in it somehow.
