Desperate Man
The lyric was written a few weeks prior to our first appearance at Dick O'Dow's Pub in Birmingham, Michigan. It was intended to go with a very slow blues tune in the spirit of Joe Bonamossa's "Sloe Gin". But then at O'Dow's we closed the night with an impromptu jam that Kenny kicked off on the bass. Leland followed closely behind and - fortunate for us - we recorded the whole night for reference purposes. After reviewing our performance, I was struck by how the cadence of this jam fit the cadence of the lyric, how much more urgency and desperation it added to the feel of the song. And so Desperate Man was born...
