“My dad was a Vietnam Vet and an alcoholic. By the time he died I was already pretty detached from him. Our relationship wasn’t too memorable because he wasn’t really there. He loved us boys, but loved the drink more. He kept getting and losing jobs as a mechanic, having to go farther from home with every job. I have had my struggles with alcohol and felt I could relate to him very well. I chose his perspective to write from because it’s as personal as you can get telling a story from your eyes.” - Darren Senn
