Unfathomable Divine Mercy
This song came about as the result of comments I received on the first song -- "The Voice From Within". More than one person who heard it (a slightly different version than the current one) said they thought it should be changed because they were afraid that women who've had abortions will be very upset when they hear it. I told them I couldn't change it because it was God's work.

After a little while, I was inspired to write a song about God's mercy. Initially, I wanted to do that for women who've had abortions so they would realize God can forgive them. So many of them think He won't.

Abortion is not mentioned at all, though. It ended up being a song for everyone because we all need the mercy of God. We are all sinners, so we all need His forgiveness. The lyrics remind us that we need to forgive others, too. One man who heard this song playing on the radio as he was driving his car admitted that he started crying as he listened to the lyrics. His glasses were sliding down his nose because of the tears.

For those of you who are Catholic, as I am, it may be of interest for you to know that I composed all the lyrics in front of the Blessed Sacrament at a Dominican Monastery of cloistered nuns. I also read the entire Diary of St. Faustina in that monastery in preparation for writing this song.

At my request, we recorded this song in the studio during the Hour of Divine Mercy on Holy Thursday. I feel this is truly an anointed song.

It is sung to the melody of "O Holy Night". A Dominican priest with whom I am well acquainted made the suggestion that I use that melody when I told him I planned to write a song about God's mercy. Actually, I had a different melody in mind, but I decided to do as he suggested. I viewed it as God speaking to me through the priest. The Lord's plans are always best.
