Shenandoah Home
Shenandoah Home
by Damian Muller

Verse 1
Every month we pack the car and head up to the mountains
And stay somewhere along the Skyline Drive
It never fails to happen when we breathe the mountain air,
It feels like home the minute we arrive

Chorus
And it always makes me smile
To walk around the homestead for a while
And gaze across the valley see the towns and farms below
We still enjoy our Shenandoah home

Verse 2:
Like my dad before me, I tell my son the story
How great granddaddy used to farm this land
Why they made him move away in 1934
To build a park he could never understand

Verse 3
They’ve made this place a wilderness for all the world to see
untrammeled now by men and their machines
Hidden in the hollows among the forest green
Are treasures of a life that used to be.
