On My Way
On My Way
By Damian Muller
It was twenty five past midnight when her car broke down
All alone on a country road, an hour out of town.
She knew that dad was sleeping, so don’t be mad she prayed
And through her crying on the phone, she heard her father say
I’m on my way, to be by your side
Don’t be afraid, everything will be alright
Wipe your tears & calm your fears, for you are not alone
I’m on my way to take your hand and lead you home.
Another quiet evening like many times before
The phone would plead, someone’s in need, and dad flew out the door
It didn’t matter who it was, the place or time of day
There was comfort in his gentle voice as we’d hear our father say
I’m on my way, to be by your side
Don’t be afraid, everything will be alright
Wipe your tears & calm your fears, for you are not alone
I’m on my way to take your hand and lead you home.
Daddy lived for 80 years, and answered every call
But now he lay so quiet, he had taken quite a fall
The doctor sadly shook his head, then daddy slipped away
And as the family said goodbye, he heard God our Father say
I’m on my way, to be by your side
Don’t be afraid, everything will be alright
Wipe your tears & calm your fears, for you are not alone
I’m on my way to take your hand and lead you home.
I’m on my way to take your hand and lead you home.
