Biography
Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Dalton Harper bursts out of the gate with “Highway of Love,” his first single as a solo artist, debuting his engaging hybrid country/bluegrass style. With highly energetic instrumentation and dynamic vocal harmonies, "Highway of Love" is a powerful debut anthem that will leave audiences intrigued, engaged, and on notice.

Based in Missouri, Harper grew up with first-rate experience performing professionally at churches, fairs, and festivals with his family’s band, The Harper Family. Since then, he has rapidly ascended in the world of acoustic music, having been the lead singer in the highly-acclaimed bluegrass group, Cedar Hill, while simultaneously leading Ridgeway Pass, a country band he co-founded.

With years of know-how under his belt, Harper is off on another journey, this time launching what is sure to become an undoubtedly successful solo career. However, the road taken to his solo career has not always been smooth. When Dalton was 18 years old, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma which required him to cease touring and playing music. The cancer went into remission; however, it returned later and required a second fight from Dalton, which he valiantly overcame.
“Highway of Love,” the first single off his upcoming album, showcases his commanding vocal abilities and deep passion for the music. Bluegrass Today compared Harper’s vocals to the likes of Josh Williams and Trey Hensley, specifying that his vocal performance on Cedar Hill’s album New Chapter was “some of the best lead vocals heard on an album [in 2022].”

Written by Paula Breedlove and Brad Davis and produced by Will McSeveney, “Highway of Love” encompasses the hard-driving excitement that is the core of bluegrass at its best. Unlike the slew of depressing love songs, this single serves as an encouragement. The catchy chorus lyrics “If the road gets too rough, we’ll just hold on tight ‘cause there ain’t no stopping us” conveys the message that, though love isn’t always easy, it’s always worth fighting for.

Harper possesses a distinguishing ability to feel the song with his entire being and communicate that exhilarating emotion to his listeners. When asked what he looks for in a performance, he answered, “I listen to the feeling they put into their music,” which is something Harper consistently displays in his own performances both on stage and in the studio. “Highway of Love” is an honest, energizing, and emotive representation of the force that is Dalton Harper.

In addition to his vocal and guitar talent, Dalton is a prolific songwriter. He writes honest, heartfelt songs in the spirit of all bluegrass and country music greats. Bluegrass artists that have benefited from his work include Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, Junior Sisk, the Harper Family, and Cedar Hill. Dalton already has one #1 single with his song "Everything to Me," which was beautifully recorded by Kenny and Amanda Smith.
