I've been workin all day in the Tennessee sun
Without a break in six long months
Ain't enough whiskey in the whole damn state

So I packed my bags and I hit the road
Hopped a freight train into Ohio
Skipped a few meals just to make it out east
Them Pocono Mountains were callin me

Well I made into Pittsburgh on my last dime
Slept under a bridge just to pass the time

Hitched a ride with a trucker into Gettysburg
Made the rounds at the Conshohocken Curve
24 miles to the county line
Had to see my baby one more time
