Biography

Music has been a constant in my life from a young age. My grandpa (Famon Self) was an old time fiddle player and would take my brother and myself around to the nursing homes,rodeos,malls playing music and later on to bluegrass festivals. My brother and I played music together growing up in a few different bands based out of Texas. Pickin Tymes was a family band with TJ Rogers,his wife Wanda,and their daughter Tammy. From there we went on to form Southern Connection and then we made a move to Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver in 1985. I did take a hiatus from music after leaving Doyle in 1986 and have only recently begun playing again (2018). I've been very blessed to work the opry with Jesse McReynolds, Bobby Osborne, once I made the decision to move to the Nashville area in the fall of 2018. I've recorded with Russell Moore, Scott Vestal,Doyle Lawson,Tina Adair,Dale Anne Bradley,Darren Beachley, Steve Thomas,Sam Bush,Scott Vestal,Cody Kilby,Alan Bibey,Seth Taylor,Clay Hess,Wayne Benson,Jeff Autrie,The Goodwin Bros., and many more. I've always been a side man in bands over the years so this is something new for me to create and play my own music. I hope someone likes what I do
