1940 Ford
The first time I got to drive was 1959
I kicked up dust around my grandpa’s farm
I won’t forget that day what my daddy had to say
About his good ole girl his 1940 ford
He said my life is like a truck Sometimes i get stuck
By shifting gears, I keep on gaining ground
The times I’m all alone, I polish up her chrome
Wipe her down and get back on the road
She took him all the way to my graduation day
We shared times in that old truck I won’t forget
I almost fell down on my knees that day he handed me her keys
Wiped away a tear and then he said
son your life’s like a truck Sometimes you get stuck
By shifting gears, you keep on gaining ground
The times your all alone polish up her chrome
Wipe her down and get back on the road
Well I’ve kept her all these years, and her memories I hold dear
Every time I’d take a ride I hear his words
What daddy said was true, many times it got me through
She’s a good ole girl that 1940 ford
your life’s like a truck Sometimes you get stuck
By shifting gears, you keep on gaining ground
The times your all alone polish up her chrome
Wipe her down and get back on the road
My life is like a truck Sometimes I get stuck
By shifting gears, I keep on gaining ground
The times I’m all alone I polish up her chrome
Wipe her down and get back on the road
