Silver Bird
I had a silver bird, he hung around my throat
He sang the saddest song, I knew every note
And then one dark blue morning
He flew off without a warning
Now all I have is this chain around my throat.
He said he’d be my King,
Tucked me under the strongest wings
Heart beating in my ear, the only sound I could bear
He sang sweeter then the Meadowlark
Flew higher than a Cooper’s Hawk
Now all I have is this chain around my heart
Silver Bird, Silver Bird
I fed him winter tangerines
The north winds blew away the seeds
In our dark feathered nest, we sank into the deepest rest
I flew inside my wildest dreams,
There were no secrets I could keep
When I awoke - I was not his Queen
Silver Bird, Silver Bird
I had a silver bird, he hung around my throat
He sang the saddest song, I knew every note
And then one dark blue morning
he flew off without a warning
Now all I’ve have is this chain around my throat.
