Biography
Clarice is a Swiss pop soul singer and songwriter. Her debut album “The Words of a Love Song” was released in February 2013 with the record label Strong Reaction Music. The 10 songs were recorded in Switzerland and Italy with renowned international musicians.

The vocalist was born Denise Meier in Zurich, Switzerland. As a child she sang along with singers when watching TV chart shows and knew the lyrics by heart after a short time. She started to record little tapes with her singing and enjoyed her own little musical world. As she began developing an interest in music early in her life, Clarice learned to play the piano at the age of 8 and the guitar at the age of 9 but stopped taking lessons when her music teacher did not allow individuality to her playing. Scouts from the biggest Swiss radio station wanted her for a radio play at the age of 12 because of her unique voice.

Blondie - the most commercially successful band to emerge from the much vaunted punk/new wave movement of the late '70s – with iconic lead singer Deborah Harry was Clarice’s first influence as a child. Although she always loved singing, she started a career in advertising and studied business administration, keeping music as a hobby. In her twenties she attended the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Zurich. Clarice used to go to the local music shops and buy 20 CDs of different styles at once, just for the love of music. Whitney Houston, Annie Lennox and Alison Moyet would become her favourite artists and role models.

Striving to become the best singer she could possibly be, Clarice began to sing at weddings or parties at weekends and built her reputation as an interpreter of classic songs. The artist joined a Swiss rock band as lead vocalist and started to write her own songs with the band members. After 2 years of rehearsing and writing, the singer found out that she would not get any further with the band from an artistic point of view. So she sent a few demos to a producer in 2010 and decided to create her first solo album. A little record label took the time to develop Clarice as an artist. Being a perfectionist, she worked on her songs and on the recording for 2 years and took on her stage name “Clarice” as this used to be her nickname in her twenties.

The debut album „The Words of a Love Song“ was released in February 2013. The first single „Dreaming of you“ got airplay on different radio stations in Switzerland. Also Clarice’s acoustic piano cover of „Last Christmas“ got airplay shortly before the release of the album in December 2012. The singer has started to do acoustic gigs in Switzerland. Having family and friends in London, she is often in the UK and recently played a little tour around London.
