Biography

Chuck Johnson is Americana to the core. This singer/songwriter has built a fantastic following throughout the Carolinas while touring in support of the release of his two independent CDs, "Cotton Ain't King" (2011) and "Snakebox on the Alter" (2012). Not just a singer/songwriter pouring his heart and soul into his music, Chuck is also a storyteller who weaves songs out of the tales of small southern towns and the roads he has traveled. His music is firmly anchored in the traditional Americana roots, but his songwriting draws on the legacy of his musical heroes, including John Prine, Bob Dylan, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. His background in rock, country, R&B and soul gives each tune its own unique feel. Onstage, Johnson creates a show like no other. With a voice like smooth Tennessee whiskey, he creates a total entertainment experience filled with musical movies accented by his hilarious wry humor, which engages every audience. Johnson's presentation invites the audience to become a part of a huge family gathering where favorite relatives tell tall tales. His creative approach to the enduring Southern roots genre places him in the front rank of emerging singer/songwriters.
