Lion in the Cage
Well you got a little piece of me
wrapped it in glass for all to see
here you thought that it was free
but everything's got a cost
something gained, something lost, innocence and age
so you tamed the lion in the cage

Put a ribbon on my mane
trimmed my nails, gave me a name
nearly convinced me that I was sane
and to shut the circus down
turn my back on the clowns, kill the light on the stage
yeah, you tamed the lion in the cage

Oh, I was a king in that jungle where you found me
Oh, I could do anything

Well I remember your Christmas feast
your magi journeyed from the east
children came to see the beast
so I sat straight on my chair
could've been anywhere, different novel same page
but you tamed the lion in the cage

Oh, I was a king in that jungle where you found me
Oh, I could do anything

Well I got hungry one day
when you and your magi were gone away
well, a lion's got no sense of equity
and I ate everything in sight
all the sacred, all the right, devoured in my rage
thought you tamed the lion in the cage
