How Are Your Tomatoes This Year
She grew up with a driver, a cook, and a maid, high society roaring back then
Then she shipped of to France, to learn how to paint, the most beautiful portraits you’ll ever see.
Then with three kids moved on, and the man that she loved, gone from the world way too young, so she set
off for mountains and a place far away, with a farmhouse, a cabin, and new life begun
(Chorus 1)
And the winters they cut like a knife, but the springtime was breezy and green. And the late July days they
were warm in the sun, but those cool evenings oh so serene. And the neighbors would gather on porches to
talk, till they had all that they could hear. But she made note of what seemed like it always came up, how are
your tomatoes this year.
The lesson that brought her was easy to see, and she learned all the ways of the land, and her garden grew
larger with each passing year, there were horses, and cattle, and hay in the fields..
Well I’m no genius but there’s value, for all walks of life, for lessons so simple and dear, ‘cause the world has
gone crazy, you know what I mean… How are your tomatoes this year.
(Chorus 2)
And the winters they cut like a knife, but the springtime was breezy and green. And the late July days they
were warm in the sun, but those cool evenings oh so serene. And the neighbors would gather on porches to
talk, till they had all that they could hear. The most meaningful question it always came up, how are your
tomatoes this year.
