San Salvador (The New World)
SAN SALVADOR – The New World Hired by Queen Isabella of Spain (1451-1504), Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) of Genoa, Italy and his team of explorers began a journey to discover what already existed in the Isles of June. Lost, he stumbled across San Salvador. This journey was the beginning of a dance that continues today engraved in the spirit of the local inhabitants. Upon returning to the Queen of Spain, gifts of these beautiful natives were bestowed upon her as a tribute to her generous contribution. As a result of this union, Spain, The Bahamas, and Italy share a common history. This movement reflects the essence of the musical relationship between these three countries.
