Thunder
i'm a creature of habit
a student of the human race
livin’ here in a paradise
where I've learned to keep an even pace
trying to making something from nothing at all
sometimes you can pull it off,
it’s just Peter paying Paul
Nothin here is easy
in the cold wind of the coming fall

dark clouds on the horizon
I can see them when I look to the west
I can tell it's gonna be another rough one
but I'm still gonna give it my best
sometimes I still wonder to myself
what would my old man do?
he’d try to do his best for the family
and that still works for me and for you

thunder & lightning comin down
use to take cover when I’d hear that sound
another day without rest
Thunder and the flash of the comin dawn

my old man was a fisherman
and as a kid I thought there was nothing he couldn’t do
we lived off the river till the river took him back
he was just another guy with a job to do
I can still see him in the wheel house
rain crawling across the dirty glass
i can smell the water and the diesel
and when I close my eyes
I’m on a boat in the river in the past

I’m living in a room in the city
where the people here don’t give you a friendly glance
if you don’t get it right the first time in the city
there’s no such thing as a second chance
i’m thinking maybe i’ve done all that I can do
nothing worth having here lasts
more than a minute or two
and when I close my eyes
I’m on a boat in the river in the past

thunder & lightning comin down
use to take cover when I’d hear that sound
another day without rest
thunder and the flash of the comin dawn
