Countin' Pennies
Countin' Pennies - by Carolyn Stewart
I needed to come here one more time
To see what would happen, what would become of my life
If I’m the last one standing here today,
I feel there’s nothin’ that can get in my way
I’ve got holes in my pocket, stains on my shirt
I’m so tired of being broke it’s absurd
And the pressures are risin’ with each cent of gasoline
And the temperatures fallin’ if you know what I mean
I’m countin’ pennies, I’m countin’ dimes
I’ll get through this somehow, I can’t lie
I’m scared of changes, I’m scared to fall
I’m scared of losin’ when I’ve given you my all.
My cars slowly dying, the tires are runnin’ bare
Ain’t no signal working but really who cares
As my taxes are risin’ my pay is going down
What the hell are they thinkin’ this debt is driving me to the ground
I’m Countin’ pennies, countin’ dimes
I’ll get through this somehow, I can’t lie
Scared of changes, scared to fall
Scared of losin’ when I’ve given you my all.
I’m just another name in a bucket for you
I’ll fade away if you want me too
I’ll be playin’ on corners ‘til my fingers go numb
But I’m doin’ what I love, what I love
Countin’ pennies, countin’ dimes
I’ll get through this somehow, I can’t lie
Scared of changes, scared to fall
Scared of changes, scared to fall
So scared of changes, scared to fall
Scared of losin’ when I’ve given you my all.
