A Light In The Window, Again
It’s a long way from Detroit to Rosine Kentucky
Night is like day when the city lights shine
I guess it’s alright for the people who live there
But I’m going back to that old home of mine
When I left Kentucky I thought I was something
Leaving the old friends and poor folks alone
When I left the dirt road and got to the highway
The road turned to paved but my heart turned to stone
There’ll be a light in the window again
To welcome our children back home
It’s dark and it’s empty there’s sorrow within
But there’ll be a light in the window again
One by one the children have left there
Brothers and sisters have all moved away
Darkness hangs over the old country churchyard
Where mother and father are sleeping today
