Moment of Peace
I know the storms will come again
the winds will howl and roar
I know hard times are out there
just beyond my cabin door.
But tonight the wind is quiet
and the biting rain has ceased
and I thank you, Lord, I thank you
for this moment of peace.

Born into the struggle,
raised up in the fight
Stumblin' down a broken road
like a stranger in the night.
Right now, the candle lights my room
like the dawn's glow in the east
and I thank you, Lord, I thank you
for this moment of peace.

Moment of peace, when everything
lies safe beneath the softness
of an angel's silver wings.
Moment of peace, the white dove flies
the pilgrim rests his weary head
and breathes a gentle sigh.

The poor are always with us
the suffering always cry
and it's a fool who looks to heaven
and dares to question why.
But tonight the stillness whispers
a hymn of sweet release
and in this sacred hour I thank you, Lord,
for this moment of peace.

Moment of peace, when the battle wanes
The soldier calms his pounding heart
and gathers strength again.
Moment of peace, freedom from fears
the waters of the mountain wash away my tears
The waters of the mountain wash away my tears.
