Waltz for Cathy
Well she asked me to sit down and write her a waltz,
So I took out my guitar and played
a soft melody for a sweet memory
when she waltzed into my life that day.
My heart started beatin' in three-quarter time
and I thought I was dancin' on air
And music came fallin' right out of the sky,
from the angel band playin' up there.

I told here that I wasn't much of a dancer,
I already proved that so well.
The last time that I'd gotten out on that floor,
Oh I tripped and I stumbled and fell.
And she smiled like the sun comin' up in the morning,
and said "put on your dancin' shoes."
"Just follow my lead and I'll show you how
it's all in the partner you choose."

And we waltzed through the day
Each step just as light as a feather,
and as the stars came to light up that warm summer night,
I knew we'd be waltzing forever.

There's the Tennessee Waltz, so sad and so blue
when she lost her darlin' that night.
There's the Kentucky Waltz that ended too soon,
beneath the harvest moonlight.
You can waltz across Texas in a praireland dream
the girl with the stars in her eyes,
and now there's a waltz for Cathy
and I'll be dancin' that waltz 'til I die.

Yeah, we're walting through the days
moving so easy together
Waltzing along to this sweet little song,
that says we'll be waltzing forever.
Waltzing along to this sweet little song,
that says we'll be waltzing forever.
